About

Biography: 
Phil's expertise is in sustainability and the media. He produces Australia's no. 1 independent podcast on the environment, a leading green blog, and is a commentator and reporter on environmental and sustainability issues on Sydney radio.

Phil began his career working in leading advertising agencies, including The Campaign Palace in Sydney. He went on to set up the successful advertising course at Charles Sturt University and then the one at UWS.

In recent years he has forged a career as a journalist - mainly in radio and online. He has over 15 years experience in the media all together.

Phil's passion is the environment, and he's now putting his  communication skills to good use as one of the country's leading green communicators. 

Areas of expertise:
Podcasting, blogging, Web 2.0, multi-media, new media, digital media, radio, video, advertising, marketing communication, journalism and the media.  The environment and sustainability.

Research:
Communication of sustainability issues and innovations - through traditional and new media.

Awards:
Winner of the inaugural Vice Chancellor's Excellence Award for Sustainability.

Grants / projects: 
Producer and co-ordinator of a student media team covering Australia's first national youth summit on climate change - Powershift 2009 (staged by the Australian Youth Climate Change Coalition at UWS.)

Learning Through Community Service Grant to promote sustainability on campus and develop a UWS Student Environment Group.

E-Learning Grant to develop online resources for the School's Internship unit. 

Professional activities: 
Environmental Reporter and Current Affairs Presenter at 2SER (Sydney Educational Radio)
